Over the years I have tasted countless bottles of wine. Each having their individual characteristics such as taste, body and color. Various characteristics are absorbed from the soil of these regions in which they grow, so when you hear names like Alexander Valley or the Russian River Valley in California it signifies the consistent growing conditions that these wines are known for. Some of my favorite wineries are in California but there are so many other regions to explore.

California amongst others have a variety of vineyards and winemakers where there is something for everyone in every price range. Its always exciting when you can enjoy a number of wines from other states or regions that can excite your pallet. So, while out wine shopping, I search for my favorites, then review other similar wines to explore. I also find that certain Wine outlets give you the opportunity to taste wines being promoted from different regions during their wine tasting events. This also applies to any local vineyards that might be in your area. Their websites would usually list any wine tasting or music events that they might be hosting. This allows you the opportunity of tasting their wines prior to buying and choosing your favorites amongst their collection. I make it a point to take advantage of these events when they pop up.

I love the complexity of a full bodied wine, usually meaning having more alcoholic content than a lighter or medium bodied wine. I also cherish a wine with a long finish that allows me to enjoy the continued lingering of it’s flavors well after I’ve swallowed. These are just a few things that I enjoy in a great bottle of wine just as listening to some great music. What a combination – Wine and Music!

So, I wanted to take a moment to introduce a few everyday drinking wines that I’ve discovered. These wines are rich in flavor with different intensities and are very easy on the pocket. We all know how expensive wines can be and we rarely find those diamonds in the rough. I’ve been very fortunate to find such delicious complex wines that I can enjoy anytime!

These picks will amaze you with their rich and intense flavors.

  • Ocean Song California Merlot – 2017
  • Rodney Strong Vineyards Merlot – 2016
  • Witching Hour Reserve Deep Red Blend

Ocean Song is a Rum Barrel aged Merlot. This yummy wine is like being on an island and listening to the music while sipping this full bodied treasure. If you’re trying to imagine that island vibe, it doesn’t get any better. I totally love the depth that this wine gives from being aged in the rum barrels. Try a bottle, and your taste buds will thank you!

Rodney Strong Vineyards Merlot is another wine that doesn’t disappoint. If you’re looking for that berry and black plum flavor, you’ve found with this delicious bottle of happiness. The spices and the oak barrels give this wine a very smooth and satisfying finish.

Witching Hour Deep Red Blend Reserve has been a strong contender for me with its deep robust flavors of Blackberries and hints of Dark Chocolate and coffee. Its makes for a nice sipping wine anytime!

I hope you get to try one, or all of these soon. A great day should end with a spectacular wine with a great finish.

Enjoy!

Your comments and feedback are always appreciated. If you decide to try one of these treasures, please let me know how you enjoyed it.

See you again!
